* building social capital
requires cultural change with how organisations traditionally make decisions. It is not something that happens overnight with a one day course. The Consultant in Residence concept is where I will spend a minimum of one month with an organisation working with staff for them to gain skills, confidence and expertise to appropriately identify and engage those stakeholders in the projects and programs in which they have an interest in the decisions. Community engagement planning training - Launceston 6th-7th July

The success of public projects, programs and strategic plans increasingly depends on effective community and stakeholder engagement.

Individuals and communities expect to be better engaged in the decisions that effect them, and the risks associated with poor or inappropriate engagement are significant.

Quality engagement requires a planned and comprehensive approach to identifying stakeholders and properly understanding their interests before deciding on the tools and techniques to interact with them.

This optional one or two day course is an interactive participatory workshop based course for project and program managers, as well as community engagement practitioners. The course builds on participants own knowledge and understanding of both theory and practice in the area. A key characteristic of the course is that techniques and processes are introduced and used to explore the content itself allowing practice and learning to occur naturally.
